Enhancements and Improvements
This section highlights a series of smaller but impactful UX improvements designed to enhance IT admin workflows. From refining existing on-prem functionality for the cloud to introducing new controls, these features made device management more efficient and user-friendly.
One key enhancement was Return Code Mappings, which allowed IT admins to define custom return codes, categorize outcomes (success, failure, retry), and improve troubleshooting visibility. Another was Power Management, which brought Windows’ built-in power settings such as sleep, wake, and hibernate into Ivanti Neurons, enabling admins to deploy and enforce energy-saving policies at scale.
These updates, along with additional refinements, focused on making complex device management tasks more intuitive, automated, and seamlessly integrated into the Ivanti Neurons platform.
Return Code Mappings
In Ivanti’s on-premise Endpoint Management solution, IT admins relied on return codes to understand the outcome of software deployments, whether an installation succeeded, failed, or required a retry. However, this functionality was missing in Ivanti Neurons, leaving cloud users without a way to define or interpret return codes efficiently.
To bridge this gap, I helped bring Return Code Mappings into Ivanti Neurons, allowing IT admins to:
To standardize error handling across deployments.
Define custom return codes
(Success, Failure, Retry, etc.) to streamline troubleshooting.
Categorize outcomes
Making it easier for IT teams to diagnose and resolve issues.
Provide Descriptions for each return code
The feature was designed with flexibility and scalability in mind, ensuring that admins could tailor return codes to their specific deployment needs while maintaining a clean, intuitive interface.
This enhancement improved troubleshooting efficiency and deployment visibility, reducing the time IT teams spent identifying and resolving installation issues. By modernizing a critical feature from the legacy system, we made cloud-based software deployment more reliable and user-friendly for enterprise IT admins.
Power Management
Windows offers built-in power management settings—such as sleep, wake, and hibernate—that help optimize energy usage and extend device lifespan. However, IT admins lacked a centralized way to remotely configure and enforce these settings across their managed endpoints in Ivanti Neurons. Without this capability, organizations struggled with inconsistent power policies, leading to wasted energy and potential security risks from unattended, active devices.
To address this, we introduced Power Management Policies in Ivanti Neurons, allowing IT admins to:
for sleep, wake, hibernate, and other energy-saving features.
Set and enforce power policies
to ensure consistent power settings across all managed devices.
Remotely deploy policies at scale
By preventing devices from remaining active longer than necessary.
improve compliance and security
The solution was designed to integrate seamlessly with existing endpoint management workflows, providing admins with a straightforward UI to configure and monitor power settings without adding complexity.
This enhancement gave IT teams greater control over device power usage, helping organizations reduce energy costs, improve security, and align with sustainability initiatives—all while maintaining a smooth user experience.
